01 OVERVIEW

What is Check My List App?

Check My List is a budget management application for house moving. The application tries to help users who are in the process of moving not to exceed the predetermined budget and also to help them succeed in purchasing the things that are most important to them in this budget without going overboard. In the app, users can divide the main budget into categories with sub-budgets, and in addition, it is also a platform where they can gather and save all the relevant information of the purchases for future use.

03 RESEARCH

User Research

I performed a user survey to get information about the problems that arise for people who are preparing to move. I wanted to know how much the budget issue worries those users, how it affects expenses, and how many people even define a budget for moving. In addition, I checked which rooms receive priority in the budget and how many encountered unplanned purchases.

Purchases before moving

Central rooms (such as the kitchen and living room) had a larger investment than the other rooms, in terms of the amount of purchases and the amount of expenses. In addition, it was important to take care of these rooms before moving in. Some of the interviewees testified that they purchased more furniture at once for the apartment they owned than for the apartments they lived in as a rental.

Purchases after moving

Purchases of things for the home continued even about a year or two after the move. At this stage, one does not tend to pay attention to expenses, and the purchases are usually no longer documented in an orderly manner.

Setting a budget

It is difficult for most of them to estimate the budget amount in advance, but there is a great desire to try to save as much as possible. The majority did a price comparison online before starting the purchase. The further you go through the purchasing process, the less you follow the expenses.

Additional expenses

Even in the predetermined budget, the surrounding expenses such as transport, professionals, and various apartment payments are not taken into account.
